The Fall serves two distinct purposes, It weighs sarees down, especially lighter ones, ensuring the pleats drape well and stay. Further, Sarees lack tensile strength, and are prone to wearing out, stretching and tearing, especially at the lower hem where there's constant contact with footwear and the ground, by adding a sturdier fall, this is mitigated.
