Perhaps the most classically styled Ajrakh saree, rendered as it is in Indigo Blues and Madder Reds... its delicate starry pattern awash upon that signature blue... simply timeless.
The Ajrakh print is a style originating in Ajrakhpur, Gujarat. The style strictly adheres to a geometric design dictated by order and balance- ÒMizanÓ. Master Craftsman Dr. Ismail Khatri has described it as Òa sky full of starsÓ, indeed, the dark backgrounds does give one the sensation of vastness and the fine pattern done in white is akin to Van GoghÕs The Starry Night -lost amongst a swirling mass of white dots and shapes... And why not- ÒAjÓ means sky and ÒRakÓ means blue in Arabic.
Done here upon gorgeous soft Cotton with a handembroidered pallu- a delight to wear. Effortless and regal, soft shimmers and air... this fabric is royalty without the burden of a crown. With its subtle sheen and ethereal, soft texture... this fabric is woven joy...
Hand-block printed fabrics have always held a special place in our hearts. The incredible skill, technique and history they hold, the paramparas they cocoon are often, misunderstood and undervalued.
Wooden blocks- hand-carved, with designs that go back centuries, impress indelible natural dyes, fermented over months, hit after hit from the side of a master artisan's hand...
